Welcome to Junior Ghosthunters International

GHOSTS....We hear that word all the time. We see them in scary movies. We dress up like them on Halloween. But what are they? And where do they come from? Nobody knows for sure, but on this website we, will try to explain to you what we think they are, and what we have learned about ghosts so far. Some people call us "GHOSTBUSTERS". We don't really "bust" any ghosts. Case of the Month - MAY 2005

If someone thinks they have a ghost in his home we go there to see if in fact there may be one present. First, we look for other explanations for what is happening. Many times there is no ghost at all. The chart below shows some of the things that could make people think they have a ghost.

Strange things happening	Explanations
Knocking sounds	Heater, pipes or neighbors
Creaking footsteps	Old floorboards contracting with temperature changes
Cold Spots	Drafts from windows or holes or cracks in walls
Ghostly lights	Lights from traffic coming through windows
Scratching sounds	Birds on the roof or mice in the walls
Ghosts on the road	Patches of fog
Ghostly lights outside	Moonbeams
Shadows in your bedroom	Your parents walking in the hallway

When a ghost is suspected, you may want to do an investigation. Before you start, you must read and follow these rules:

1. ALWAYS tell your family where you are going.

2. NEVER go alone. It is safer to have a buddy with you (in case you get hurt), and it's also more fun with friend!

3. NEVER trespass. trespassing means going onto someone's property without asking permission first. This includes climbing over fences.

4. NEVER go into an empty house, even if it is supposed to be haunted. There may be people in there that will bother you, or the building may be unstable. You can fall through the floor if it's weak. The roof may even fall in on you!

5. ALWAYS look for normal causes for the ghostly happenings.

6. If you bring snacks with you, never leave litter.

7. Make sure you have a cell phone or change for the pay phone, in case you need help.

8. Always take notes. Write down everything that happens....what you see, smell, hear etc.

9. If you have a camera, take as many photos as you can.
